Module: Leadership and Communication

Assuming Responsibility, Increasing Motivation, Achieving Success

Problem & Task

Continual structural changes require organizational adjustments in many places and at the same time provide many companies with new opportunities that can only be seized through dedicated employees and the use of modern communication tools. Clear communicative abilities, a well-established organizational structure as well as skilled management styles have proven to be crucial, especially to the success of projects which span different departments and organizations. The ability to handle resistance as well as to motivate all involved parties are also critical for business success.

Objectives

Successful project and organizational management are primarily based on the ability to quickly and precisely evaluate the information that is obtained or available as well as to effectively communicate that information to team members and decision-makers. Depending on the level of hierarchy, function and information recipients, this requires the use of various information and communication tools. For the company’s management, tools of Business Intelligence are utilized that facilitate the real selection, analysis and presentation of information.

Approach

The module emphasizes developing or refining of the participants’ personal management and communication skills. A number of case studies and several speakers from various branches of industry and research institutions highlight diverse topics that are relevant for day-to-day management activities. In addition, this module involves the discussion of modern management information systems as well as strategies for implementing such tools.
