Module: Effects of Globalization

Module: Effects of Globalization

Taking advantage of global opportunities – Avoiding risks

Problem & Task

By opening markets and intensifying business contacts, globalization offers companies opportunities for commercial success. At the same time, globalization increases competition in the market and presents risks to business activities. Globalization is not only driven by technical progress, specifically in communication and transportation technologies, but also by political decisions relating to the deregulation of world trade.

Objectives

It is of central importance for managers to possess well-founded knowledge about the complex interactions of global relationships. Workplace reforms, social security affairs and other economic decisions directly affect companies. A well-informed decision on business matters can only be made once a competent analysis of the economic relationships has been conducted that can form the basis for corporate decisions.

Approach

This module will introduce the effects of globalization and discuss the required measures from an organizational perspective. Specific rules help with the implementation within business contexts. Experienced and noted lecturers from research and business combine theoretical foundations and practical implications in a clear and comprehensible manner. At the conclusion of the module, participants will be able to assess the phenomenon of globalization, derive advantages for the organization and counter risks with the appropriate measures.
