Start of our Class of 2013

Start of our Class of 2013

With the first module about the ‘Effects of Globalisation’, the MBA students of our Class of 2013 started their extra occupational MBA studies, which will go on for the next two years. Like in the classes before the group impresses one with varying experience and background, as its participants are from several industries and different companies. Thus, every discussion promised to be very sophisticated and diversified, given the different backgrounds. Two weeks long, they had courses in the lecture hall of the University of Würzburg with instructors having both theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of Economics.

Solemn start with the Opening Ceremony in the ‚Neubaukirche’

On Monday, October 3, 2011, the new MBA students of the Class of 2013 finally arrived in Würzburg’s Neubaukirche, an ancient church in the middle of the city. During a solemn Opening Ceremony they were warmly greeted by Professor Dr. Martin Kukuk, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Economics. Professor Dr. Rainer Thome, Academic Director of the MBA program, initiated afterwards the extra occupational postgraduate professional training with a lecture about the topic ‘Why Germany needs the Globalisation’.

Economic crisis as dominating topic

The Opening Ceremony was followed by the first course for the MBA students. Under the instructions of Professor Dr. Norbert Berthold (Chair of Economics, particularly Economic Order and Social Politics) the students learned the basics of economics in the following two weeks. Needless to say that the discussions during the courses were distinctly dominated by the omnipresent topic – the recent sovereign debt crisis.

Experts from the fields of research, companies and banks

In the first module already, the MBA students got to know several instructors coming from various fields of research and science. Instructors of diverse universities, colleges and research institutions taught as well as speakers who are recently employed in companies or banks. To sum up the first units: All of the MBA participants will now see the recent happenings in the economy from a different angle.
