Refreshing and uplifting medium-sized enterprises at the Rhön

Refreshing and uplifting medium-sized enterprises at the Rhön

On November 24, 2009, the staff of the MBA Business Integration gained interesting insights into medium-sized companies in the framework of a field trip into the Rhön. The agenda offered visits to the cultic beverage company “Bionade”, the organic farm of Martin Ritter and to the glider manufacturer Alexander Schleicher. Furthermore, a detailed guided tour through the German Gliding Museum offered exciting insights into the history and future of this sport.

Already at the arrival at Ostheim vor der Rhön the striking blue beverage cases of the company Bionade were visible. During the company presentation, the attendees gained an insight into the up and down of the young and innovative family company, while tasting the non-alcoholic soft drink with the flavors lychee, elder, herbs, ginger-orange or quince. After a walk through the brewery the field trip continued at the organic farm of Martin Ritter. He explained the general framework and the fundamental standards of a biological farm with practical examples and amusing anecdotes.

The afternoon was all about gliding. The first destination was the German Gliding Museum which is situated directly on the Wasserkuppe, the birth place of gliding. All the fundamental development steps and personalities of this attracting sport or leisure activity were shown throughout a qualified guide. Detailed insights into the special demands of the construction and the manufacturing of gliders were possible at the following tour through the production facilities of the glider manufacturer Alexander Schleicher Segelflugzeugbau GmbH. The construction of a glider was demonstrated step by step – from the drawing board over the material selection until the maiden flight.
